2010年4月23日，由广州亚组委宣传部主办的亚运专题阅览室正式向广大读者开放。
该室设在广州图书馆外文书刊室内，是一个普及亚运知识、展示体育文化资料、推广亚洲国家和地区文化的综合主题阅览室，分为亚运资讯展示区和亚洲文化阅览区，集中了亚运会及亚洲国家和地区体育、文化方面的各种载体的信息资源，为读者提供全方位的亚运信息服务。
　　为配合亚运会的举办，该室将全面开展亚运体育、亚洲国家地区文化的推广和宣传教育活动，定期举办“迎亚运、学英语”、亚运文化专题讲座等系列活动。此外，自该室开放之日起，广州图书馆网站同步开通“亚运专题阅览室”网页，提供信息查询、活动播报、资源推介和相关网站导航等服务，方便读者更好地了解亚运相关资讯。

　　A Brief Introduction to the Asian Games Reading Room
The Asian Games Reading Room opened on April 23, 2010. It is a special reading room sponsored by the Games Communication and Promotion Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC).
This reading room, which locates in the Foreign Collections Reading Room, aims to popularize the knowledge of the Asian Games, display sports culture, and spread the culture of Asian countries and regions. It consists of the Asian Games Information Area and the Asian Culture Materials Area which collects multiple materials and resources on Asian Games, sports and cultures of Asian countries and regions. Readers are free to access these collections.
　　To coordinate with the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, the room will hold a great variety of activities to promote the knowledge of the Asian Games, Asian sports culture and the culture of Asian countries and regions, among which there are a series of regular English learning activities related with Asian Games and lectures on Asian culture . To make readers have a better understanding of the Asian Games, the library also develops "Asian Games Resources" webpage with information query, event broadcasting, resource recommendation and the Asian Games-related websites navigation services.
